What the Heck Is the Ontological War?

Even though very few people have been conscious of their realself’s existence, we humans have been fighting ontological battles of one sort or another for thousands of years. These battles have been fought within each of us over the self we should be, how we should relate to others, and how we should relate to the natural world. These battles have also been fought within societies: the so-called “cultural wars” are actually ontological wars. And finally, these ontological battles have regularly escalated into wars fought ostensibly over nationality, race, or religion, but have actually been over ontological beliefs and values.

I’ll show in this blog that many, many reasons are given for fighting the ontological battles and wars, but ultimately there are probably two main reasons for them: our ontological alienation from ourselves and our ignorance of ourselves ontologically.

I’ll also cover other subjects that can have large ontological components, such as religion, the environment, evolution, morality, mental illness, politics, relationships, and sex.

In this blog I do take a side in these battles: I am always on the side of those who are striving to become more their realselves and to bring about the world and life where we are all being our realselves.
