Changing the Ontological World

September 10th, 2007 · No Comments

Image of a world globe and toolsIt’s harder to change the ontological world than I thought it would be. When I was deeply involved in thinking about ontological ideas and questions, I thought others were thinking about the same ideas and asking the same questions. After all, the ideas and answers are just there, within us, and all it takes to find them is to spend the hours and days thinking about them.

What I underestimated, however, was the great resistance by others to moving forward ontologically. I knew many people didn’t want to, but I thought there were a few who would be as enthusiastic ontologically as I was.

I was wrong about that as well, or maybe it’s just that I haven’t been able to find those few yet. Pretty much all the people I have met or communicated with who show even the slightest interest are interested only until they get a sense of what is actually involved. Many of these people want to become who they truly are and want to have a being-to-being relationship, but once it dawns on them—“Oh, you mean who I really am, my innermost self? Then no, I don’t want to become that or have anything to do with it.”—they lose their interest.

As I see it now, the main problem is not a lack of intelligence, in most cases, because it does not take a great intellect to figure this out. The real problem is that most people do not have the combination of abilities that are required if one is to continue increasing one’s degree realself.

I know what I am writing here is somewhat redundant to what I have written earlier, but I have been spending a lot of time lately thinking about why others don’t want to increase their degrees of being, and what will be needed to get them to change their minds.
