My opinion of the Catholic Church has plummeted over the last few years.
About 4 years ago I stumbled upon California Catholic Daily, a website that publishes 3 or 4 posts per day on subjects of interest to conservative, “traditional” Catholics.
After commenting on various subjects for maybe a year, I came to the conclusion that going to CCD was about the same as sticking one’s head into a 5-gallon bucket of pus. Many of the Catholics commenting on CCD are very unpleasant.
My dislike of “traditional” Catholics grew the more I read what they wrote, and my contempt for the Catholic Church also grew as I read more about it.
I will in the future explain many of the reasons for my dislike, but all of them boil down to the same cause: The Roman Catholic Church and “traditional” Catholics strongly promote ontological alienation. The RCC is, in fact, a decreasing realself church, and its aggressive alienation harms all of us. And beyond this, ontological alienation eventually gets transformed into evil, and so by promoting alienation the RCC is also promoting evil.
For those who might disagree with what I’ve written here, all I’ll say is read the posts I’ll write about the RCC in the future; it will all be explained.
I do want to address one minor point now, however. In their defense, traditional Catholics will say that the Church feeds a lot of hungry people and does other benevolent acts. But this isn’t how evil should be judged, even though this kind of flawed thinking is common in the ontologically immature RCC. To use a parallel example, very few people would argue “Priests should be able to have sex with kids because the RCC helps hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.”
